GUEST TEACHER - MR. SATINOFF
A very special thank you to Mr. Jeff Satinoff. He was the special guest teacher for Level 6 yesterday. Mr. Satinoff was a prominent dancer performing with North Carolina Dance Theater and for ten years with Feld Ballet. He has danced as a guest artist with major companies such as Louisville Ballet, The Colorado Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Oregon Ballet and the companies of Ohad Naharan and Ros Newman, and Chamber Ballet USA.

Mr. Satinoff has staged and/or created works for Chamber Ballet USA, Juilliard, School of American Ballet, North Carolina School of the Arts, Princeton Ballet, The Hartford Ballet, Memphis Ballet, Dayton Ballet and others. He also served as Artistic Director of Danesouth in Charleston, SC, and The Lake Erie Ballet creating several works including full-lenght The Nutcracker,  La Fille Mal Gardee and Coppelia
…AND he served as the Dean of Dance for Dreyfoos School of the Arts from the day the school was inaugurated, and for many, many years afterwards.

Level 4 had a special rare treat being taught by Director Mr. Feray. This level also got a special “look” into what they would be doing for the upcoming performance of The Nutcracker. Having Mr. Feray as a teacher yesterday AND “The Nutcracker” was truly beyond exciting for them. After class, he was excited, as well!

There is always something great and wonderful going on at Paris Ballet and Dance!

AUGUST 28, 2017
GREAT AUDITION
It was a fantastic audition for The Nutcracker on August
27. Paris Ballet students let their love for ballet pour out of their hearts! Everyone did wonderfully. It's going to be very difficult to decide. The judges mentioned how difficult it will be to cast the show.

So many of dancers have come so far since last year So, it looks like for the second year in a row, there is no need to invite a professional Ballerina to perform the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy ...Not to mention all the other roles like Snow Queen, Dew Drop, Arabian, Bonbons. These parts will be cast from dancers in the school!

Director Mr. Feray did great organizing the wonderful judges, and putting it all together for this huge audition.
Thank you Karen Manucy, for getting the sign-in process organized, Christi Keavy for helping during singing in and out, and of course the three wonderful judges, Jennifer Cole, Lori Ramirez, and Ben Slayen.                                                                                                                                                          ...PHOTOS ON FACEBOOK

CONGRATULATIONS NICHOLAS GARLO
Former Paris Ballet and Dance student Nicholas Garlo has now joined the league of professional dancers by
accepting his first full-position as a company member with Ballet Quad Cities located in Rock Island, Illinois. The well-established American company was founded 1996, and does five major productions a year. Ballet Quad Cities is the longest-running resident professional ballet company in the entire state of Iowa and western Illinois. It is one of only 100 in the nation.

Nicholas Garlo came to Paris Ballet and Dance as a boy to begin his serious dance study until he graduated at Dreyfoos School of the Arts. While with Paris Ballet and Dance, he performed many exciting roles, and later danced with the Palm Beach Opera, and others.

Utilizing his great dance education, he was accepted into the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase College in New York. There, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a Minor in Arts Management. In May of 2017, he graduated, Cum Laude with the Bert Terborgh Award.

Nicholas also studied at numerous summer intensives such as Springboard Danse Montreal, Jacob’s Pillow the Contemporary Program, The Netherlands Dance Theater Intensive, Launch with Northwest Dance Project, Arts Umbrella, the Movement Invention Project, and Joffrey Chicago. He also received the chance to study abroad in Taiwan for five months, where he continued to study and research classical ballet, modern, contemporary, and eastern influenced techniques such as Chinese Opera Kung Fu.

This past summer, Nicholas had the opportunity to go to Berlin where he rehearsed and later performed Dust choreographed by Roderick George at the Suzanne Dellal Centre in Tel-Aviv, Israel. These
performances opened the dance festival in Tel-Aviv.

Besides being extremely talented, Nicholas always worked very hard with drive, focus, desire and a true passion for dance. When given instruction and corrections, he understood while applying them immediately. He was a model as to what a dance student should be, and a joy to have in the school.

Director Jean-Hugues Feray and the staff of Paris Ballet and Dance are very proud of Nick, and his many wonderful accomplishments. His future is just beginning and is extremely bright as a professional dancer!

AUDITION FOR THE NUTCRACKER ON AUGUST 27 DRAWS CLOSER

There is certainly excitement in the school lately as the Audition for The Nutcracker gets closer to the date on August 27. Dancers are talking about all the upcoming performances, and many roles possibly available to them!

Please, be reminded the signed Commitment Letter is due NOW. It MUST be turned in for a student to be considered for anything. The audition is ajudicated by several qualified people who make their recommendations to Director Jean-Hugues Feray -- which he takes very seriously!
ALSO
Please, understand dancers don't always get what they (or their parents) want or feel they deserve." Choices for roles are
carefully and well thought out with many factors involved in the decision making process.

With this huge commitment there is a great opportunity for a dancer's personal growth. It's an exhilarating time!
...Audition Page for more information.

UPDATE AND CHANGE FOR FRANCE DRAWING
Due to the overwhelming response of new registrations, the drawing for the PAID air-fare for two is now on Monday, September 5 - the day after Labor Day!

AUGUST 18, 2017
AUDITION FOR THE NUTCRACKER ON AUGUST 27

The audition for The Nutcracker is on August 27, 2017. There are very many great roles to be filled. Director Jean-Hugues Feray and a panel of respected judges will be on-hand to see what the dancers, with their various capabilities but more importantly their personalities will “bring.”

Students in Levels 5 and up including ALL boys, are absolutely required to attend the audition. Levels 3 and
4, will be in the show however, do not have to audition.

Being in The Nutcracker (or any production) is a huge commitment which Paris Ballet and Dance, and Paris Ballet Conservatory takes very seriously! Dancers are required to be present and ready for all rehearsals, and costume fittings. It is important for parents to not make travel or social plans during this time period. As a reminder, dancers who are absent or late may be removed from the cast.

There are several performance opportunities. Besides the grand full-length production on December 9 and 10, Paris Ballet will be performing several abbreviated versions throughout the area including The Gardens Mall.

It's a huge year for all the dancers!

AUGUST 14, 2017

This Summer's Magnifique Ballet Intensive has come to end. It was such a pleasure to work with the legendary Charles Jude, and the other great internationally renowned master teachers and artists Olivier Pardina, Christophe Maraval and Muriel Maffre. Besides their incredible teaching abilities, they shared their experiences of what it was like to be a student in one of the greatest ballet schools in the world - The Paris Opera Ballet School. They also shared their many experiences and their knowledge of what it was like to dance professionally in some of the greatest companies in the world!

This is it, we are two days away from the new Paris Ballet Magnifique Intensive at the Kravis Center for the Performing  Arts. It is such a pleasure to welcome Charles Jude, Olivier Pardina, Christophe Maraval and Muriel Maffre. They are the very best of the international Ballet world joining our amazing staff right here in our back yard. It is so special to now see this project become a

Thank you to all the students and their families who have committed to this amazing opportunity that I can say will be absolutely memorable in their young Dancers lives. Mr. Jude has just shared with me that the Variations and Pas de deux he is planning on teaching are Giselle, Don Quixote and The Sleeping Beauty that he danced while a principal Dancer/Étoile at the Paris Opera Ballet. He will teach the very versions he danced himself by none other than Russian legend Rudolph Nureyev who was at the time the Artistic Director of the Paris Opera Ballet.

This is not just another Intensive. It is going to be filled with passJudith A. Mitchell, Tracy Butler, Miranda Hawkins and their entire staff.ion, incredible international knowledge with the best quality of training you could ever dream of and a real focus on every single student who will attend. What a great treat to also benefit from this incredible platform - The Kravis Center.

Thank you to Judith A. Mitchell, Tracy Butler, Miranda Hawkins and their entire staff. Your professionalism and kindness is much appreciated. Thank and you for offering Paris Ballet, and the students of the community the opportunity to train in this beautiful facility.

A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Dear Students, Parents, Patrons and Friends,
Words cannot describe how incredibly proud I am of the Spring Performance. It truly brought tears of joy to my
eyes! Each year, performances continue to get better. I sincerely hope you are as happy as I am. It is great to share the  experience of your children's development, improvement and very hard work.

Yes, at Paris Ballet and Dance, and Paris Ballet Conservatory, we push our students to do their absolute best. While fun, often classes and rehearsals may be grueling and extremely hard work. However, as you saw this past weekend, every single student brought themselves to their highest level. They should be very proud of themselves, as well. Even though many students will not be dancers, learning life lessons about dedication, hard work, commitment are valuable ethics they can carry on to all walks of life.

Thank you to our beautiful guest dancers, Emill Huememaa, Claire Boutte, Xander Visker and Gillian Yoder. It was with great pleasure and pride to have them on the stage because they are all former students of mine and the School. When in the area, they still take classes with me!

Thank you to Sandra Baran at Jupiter Academy of Music, and Alice Culbreath at Grace Notes Foundation for the wonderful musicians for the second performance.

There are so many people to thank! I hope I have them all. These people not only helped out but insured the safety and security of your children. Thank you to all of the parents/ guardians and others who have generously given their time to help make production possible including: Robyn Begley, Mercedes Childers, Cristina Ciolacu, Alison Colbert, Tangi Colombel, Erika DeOreo, Barbara Francisco, Angela Gutierrez, Stephanie Higginbotham, Barbra Kaplan, Christi Keavy, Michael Keavy, Yeni Leyva, Roxanna King, Kristen Lenihan, (Mrs. Lenihan – Kristen Lenihan’s mother), Missy Megginson, Jeanette Medina, Lindsey Moretti, James Nobel, Karen Nobel, Emily Stewart, Michael Pachelli, Ashley Walker, and Michaela Wilkinson.

Thank you to ALL my incredible and experienced staff. Their knowledge and experience is unsurpassed. Thank you to Kristen Lenihan for her work on these past performances and her technical help. Thank you to Johanna Ross for being my rehearsal assistance, and with extra choreography and backstage help. She is truly a valuable asset to our School and Conservatory. I enjoy working with her. Thank you to Joseph J. Bucheck III for his assistance and extra coaching during and after every rehearsal, backstage help, and everything else he does. His - over forty years of experience, care and passion is another wonderful asset.

Extra special thanks to Karen Manucy! In all honesty, her devotion on a daily basis helps the school and Conservatory run. I truly cannot say enough great things about her. For many years, Karen has worked by my side looking after the school and your children. None of it could be done without her!

For the record, and it must be stated, these dedicated people who worked on rehearsals and performances did so on a voluntary basis to nurture your children, and share their knowledge and passion for dance with them. These are the things that help make Paris Ballet and Dance, and Paris Ballet Conservatory an incredible school.
a
Also, don't forget all the Summer Intensives, Camps and Classes offered. Help your child continue their progress.

Sincerely,
Jean-Hugues Feray
Founder and Director
